Happy 'Ween!

We've been "Halloweening" for days and I have to say I'm glad it's behind us!  Our first stop on the Halloween train was to our church's Pumpkin Patch.  We met our friends The Bolen's {which has become a tradition} and the boys had a blast!  Instead of trunk-or-treat, the church decided to put together care packages for children in Haiti.  Our boys packed a bag for a baby {and mother} that included items like a toothbrush and toothpaste, a comb, a bar of soap, a blanket, etc.  They also had traditional games set up, a hayride, and a petting zoo.  Our boys dressed as football players and Hampton was the football.  The Bolen Boys were a pilot and an airplane!

After church, we came back to our house to carve pumpkins and watch the Gamecocks play Tennessee.  My brother was a good sport and carved a pumpkin with 4 very excited little boys.  If you look closely at this picture you will see that the boys drew their own face on the pumpkin when Bryson stepped away from the marker for a minute! Ha!

During the game, my mama snuggled with Hampton.  I wanted her to hear him laugh so we played patty cake until he did {or maybe we just annoyed him long enough}....later in the night he and my dad fell asleep on the couch.  How precious is that picture of them?

We had our first fire on our back porch!  If you have read this blog for a while, you know I have dreamed of this fire since we started building!!  After everyone left and the boys were in the bed, Lee and I sat outside and enjoyed the fire....with Hampton of course.  Funny the changes a year can bring.  While dreaming of the fire, the fact that I would be holding a new baby in front of it never crossed my mind.
"From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another." John 1:16

Sunday, we headed to meet Lee's family for a trunk-or-treat at their church.  This time we dressed Hampton as a bat because it was cold and I needed him to want to stay in the costume!  This is the only picture that I snapped of our 3 boys!

And I had to share this picture to show you the boy's Halloween shirts!  Last year my friend Tammi turned me on to these...we bought them online from a website called Personal Creations.  They glow in the dark and we got two years wear out of them!

The other fun thing we did this year was start a "Boo" in our neighborhood.  We only have 4 neighbors so we started the "booing" just two weeks before Halloween.  "Booing" your neighbors involves leaving a treat on their front porch and then they repeat the treat with another neighbor!  Each neighbor then hangs a sign on their front door showing that they have been "booed".   I just searched online until I found the sign and directions that suited me...I used this one from Anders Ruff.

Happy Fall Y'all!

  • Wow..it's been a looong time since I've blogged and that's due in part to the fact that my computer decided to choke AGAIN.  Turns out one of the boys had pushed a series of keys in exactly the right order to send my monitor to "an external source."  So just like always my bff's on the geek squad fixed me up!  I am on a first name basis with 2 of the agents and I love them. For real.
  • Our little man turned 2 months old!  And since his three month birthday is right around the corner, I will just show you the pics I took of him and do a full post on all his "goings on" in a week or so.

  • We have been busy, busy and I 'm going to try to catch up over the next few weeks...Our first fall adventures started at my brother's alma mater, Presbyterian College, for Homecoming.  I headed to Clinton to meet my parents, brother, and their tailgating crew.  The boys, large and small, had a great time!

  • The Sunday after PC Homecoming we got a wild hair and decided to ride to Sky Top Orchard in Hendersonville, NC for the day to pick apples.  My parents headed to the mountains after the game Saturday so we called them Sunday morning to say, "Surprise!  We're coming!"  My mama was excited to say the least!  Sky Top has changed a lot since my first visit as a brownie scout.   We could not believe the people and all the stuff they had for sale.

  • Hampton's first real smile and first real belly laugh happened this month!  Tradd and Jackson are really beginning to interact with him and try to make him laugh.  They still call him "baby" or "baby brother" most of the time, which I think is just precious.  They love to hold him, play on his activity mat with him, and kiss him! If only I could get them to change diapers....

"The best way to spread Christmas cheer..."

Soooooooo tonight we watched Elf for the second time in two weeks...only this time was different.  About 30 minutes into the movie, I get a text from my across the street neighbor that says,
"Are y'all watching Elf by chance?"

It took me a minute and then it hit me.

By the time I made it to the front porch I can see Heather, her husband, and their two little girls on their front porch.  And before I can open the front door I am laughing hysterically.

You see, when we built our house, we had most rooms and our porches wired with speakers.  SO we had been broadcasting ELF to the entire neighborhood.  It was so loud they heard it from their back porch!  Needless to say, we had a good belly laugh from our porches....and I turned the speakers off.

Guess it's true what they say, "The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!"

TMI

  1. My baby tooted so loudly yesterday the dog barked.
  2. While trimming Jackson's fingernails this week I noticed he had been biting them again...I asked, "Jackson, have you been biting your nails again?"  To which he responded, "No, I've just been cutting them with my teeth."  ok.
  3. I just noticed on my settings page from blogger that people have found my blog by searching Google for "bare butt" and "singed arm hair."  As long as it wasn't "singed butt hair", I guess I'm ok with that.
  4. In related news, my blog has been viewed by someone in Poland and someone in the Ukraine...I wonder if they were the ones looking for the bare butts???
  5. I went to the gym yesterday for the third time since the baby was born...it was not pretty...apparently pregnancy has affected my ability to hear a beat, move my arms and legs simultaneously and know my right from my left.  I looked like a drunk chicken.
MY SHOW Modern Family is back on!  My favorite quotes from last week's Dude Ranch episode...

Mitchell: “So, we haven’t told the family yet but we’ve decided to adopt a baby boy!”
Cam: “From America this time, you might say we’re buying domestic.”
Mitchell: “In private. You might say that in private.”

Phil: “I've been practicing like crazy all my cowboy skills. Shooting, roping, pancake eatin’.”

and from "When Good Kids Go Bad"...

Alex tells Haley to shut up: “Could you L a little less OL?”

Phil free-styles: “Girl you crazy. I’m mad fun to shop with. Trapped in between two whole wheat slices. Pastrami and Swiss are my only vices.”
