Five on Friday

1// Did anyone else see this sunset yesterday?

2// Found this on Pinterest and printed for a little frame in my reading room.
Now I'm singing this song 24/7.

3//
I made this a few weeks ago with all the leftovers in our fridge...so easy and delicious!

4//
I may have mentioned that I am training for a half marathon.  I found this shirt at TJ and was all, "I have to have this!"  They only had teeny tiny mediums that didn't fit me because I don't run enough.    #irony

5//
Yay for me!

Scenes from the Weekend {Asheville}

I spent last weekend in Asheville with my high school girls.  We all live within 30 minutes of each other, but as life goes, we don't get to see each other like we'd like.  This year was different though...our Stephanie gave us quite a scare a few weeks back and I wasn't sure the trip was going to happen.  To make a long story short, a previous medical condition requires that she have a CT scan every year and this year they saw something shady.  Further testing revealed something in the middle lobe of her right lung.   The lobe needed to be removed...immediately.  Four weeks ago our precious friend spent a week in the hospital struggling to take a deep breath and in so much pain.

Nothing makes time together sweeter than knowing things could have been different.  Knowing that God wants us to love each other longer makes me love them with a new purpose.  Having lost before, I know the sacredness of these people and this time.

We've known each other with bangs and tight rolled jeans.  We've danced at weddings and reunions and in each other's living rooms.  We've spend the night in hospital rooms and dorm rooms, but a tiny cabin in Asheville is where we like it best.
We never really go with a plan...we just kind of show up and figure it out.  That kind of describes who they have always been to me..."the show up and figure it out" friends of my life.

Stephanie, Ashley, Carla~
Nothing you could ever say or do will make me stop loving you or pursuing your friendship.  You make me laugh until I pee and I will never see you cry without feeling the need to join you.  You are vital to my happiness and I hope I am to yours.  Until next year, diamonds.  XXOO

The fun multiplied on the way...

Porch Mules

We had a massage at a school downtown.  Not sure why I'm nuzzling Carla, but she seems to have liked it.

We ate chocolate for lunch.

We finally met DONNA!

One World Brewing Co.

We really ate A LOT and often.

Ashley always forces us to play games...this one made our sides hurt.  And Steph's mouth.

That time Ashley pretended to be Ray Charles at dinner.

I got home in time Sunday to make it to the boy's baseball games.  They won 2nd place and added to their GIANT ring collection.  {The collection is not giant, the rings are}

3 things I'm loving and what I'm reading

One of my best girls, Lindsey,  did this on her blog a few weeks ago and I immediately text her to say, "I'm totally stealing your blog idea."  Her husband is a pastor at our church and they recently moved back to South Carolina. The first real conversation I had with Nick he said, "You really need to meet my wife. Ya'll remind me of each other and I think y'all are going to be friends." Well. Turns out he was right.    I have all the heart eyes for her. She is such a blessing to my life.  Turns out she's much cooler than me and she constantly helping me listen/look/read something that makes me appear cooler too.

A while back Lindsey turned me on to the Jamie Ivey  podcast and I've been listening while I run or drive downtown.  At the end of her podcast, Jamie asks her guest what 3 things they are loving and what they are reading...

3 things I'm loving

1//  Nickel and Suede.    Per usual, Lindsey knew all about these earrings first and I just lost my mind over them when I saw her wearing them.  They are lightweight leather earrings that come in every color you could imagine.  She surprised me with a pair for my birthday!  I was just a little excited and I haven't taken them off since.  I'm wearing them in this picture...

This is my best girl Robin, not Lindsey, but #earrings.

2// OPI Taupe-less Beach Nail Polish.  In my opinion the BEST nail color to transition from summer to well...less summer.  This is such a weird time of year in the south.  The calendar says September, but temperatures are still hovering in the 90's.  This color is a head tip to fall without being too dark.

3// Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee by Jerry Seinfeld.  Basically, Jerry picks up another funny person in a classic car and they go for coffee.   If you don't know about this I'll go ahead and say, "You're Welcome."  I promise you will crack up and if not, we don't think the same things are funny so...bye, Felicia.  A full episode is 15-20 and a single shot just a minute or two. Watch and tell me what you think!

What I'm reading

Currently I'm rereading 1000 Gifts: A dare to live fully right where you are  by Ann Voskamp in preparation for a women's Bible study I'm co-leading with, guess who!?  Lindsey!  Starts Wednesday nights October and lasts 5 weeks...if you live near by and want to join in you can register by clicking HERE!  We'd love to have you!

Fresh Start

Well.  You probably noticed that Confessions of a Southern Mama has mysteriously disappeared from the 'ol blog.  The web address, the title, gone.  Let me keep a long story short and tell you I spent the better part of Monday on the phone with a kind man from Google.  Named Walter.  Walter lives in India and I'm pretty sure his mama didn't name him Walter.
Anyhoo...when I originally set up my blog I had to supply them with an email address.  I set up automatic payment for my domain name.  All good.  Until your payment doesn't go through because your credit card has expired.  And they are trying to notify you through your old email address that your domain name is about to go on the chopping block.  And then you don't blog for 19 years.  And then they want to charge you a whole lotta money to claim your domain name again.

Clueless.   That was me.  I was really not all that worried about the name, but more about all of my content being lost.  I immediately searched my name and when that was available as a {dot}com I scooped it up and decided it was time for a fresh start.  Confessions of a Southern Mama was always a mouthful anyway.

So why "Always, Misty?"  I think I got it from my mama, but that's how I sign thank you notes or birthday cards or love notes to Lee.  It's my Yours Truly, All my Best, Take Care...it's the way that I tell my people I'm always here...always me.  Here's to a fresh start.
