snow-hoping

It's Monday and we are snow-hoping here.
It's been a long while since my sweet ones have played in snow.  We've never seen our house in lots of snow, never played with our neighbors in snow, we've never seen our sweet Hampton feel the cold and play until his tiny hands turn beet read and ache for warmth.
This was us in the last really big snow…a family of four when Hampton was only a hope in my heart kept secret.

five on friday

five on friday by mistybburton

1.  The pen aisle always gets me.  I found these beauties on a super sale at Office Depot last night.
Foray Stylemark 12 pack for $7!!!  I could not find that deal online so you may have to get to the store for this one!

2.  There is that word again.  Goodness.  I am a confirmation mentor at church this semester and this is one of the verses we discussed in our first small group.
 If you are a person of prayer, I'd love it if you would add my group of  eighth grade girls to your list.

3.  The Old Navy sweatshirt that I posted about last week was a bust.  When Old Nay went to fulfill my order they were all gone…I seriously wanted to cry.  How does that even happen?   Falling prey to the scheme that is online shopping, I ordered a few other things just to get the free shipping AND I DIDN'T EVEN GET THE DANG SWEATSHIRT.  Anyhoo,   all was not lost because this workout shirt showed up and totally redeemed Old Navy for me.

4.  I only like coffee when it's super cold out and I finally found my perfect drink at Starbucks!  Skinny Caramel Macchiato with an extra pump…I like sweet drinks and this fits the bill without all the calories.

5.  Ordered this book this week and can't wait to dive in when it arrives!  Angie Smith's book What Women Fear is one of my favorites.   Extra excited because a friend and I decided to read this together…I will keep you posted!

Happy Weekend!

Disney Part II {Pictures}

                    *DISCLAIMER: below you will find 900 pictures of our Disney Trip….
                       if the title didn't give it away, turn back now if this completely bores you.
                                             YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
                                                    If you missed Part I go here

The day finally came.
We were packed to the tippy top and ready to go...

I had packed snacks galore and bought the boys two brand new movies, Epic and The Croods, to pass the time.  We stopped to eat dinner on the way and after we traveled all those miles we settled into a Hampton Inn.
{our first wake up in FL}

On our way to Disney that Saturday there was a sky writer.
LOVE GOD.
If you travel on a Saturday, look up!

{Bus waiting}

{First walk on Main Street USA}

Our good friends, the Ingrams, were wrapping up their Disney adventure as ours was just beginning and we were lucky enough to spend some time with them.  Our little ones are the same age and we just love being with them!

{Em's face is PRICELESS}

{Hampton and I waiting in line to ride in Dinoland}

{Downtown Disney}

{Tomorrowland}

{Dumbo}

{Steamboat ride}

{Chef Mickey's}

{Bus waiting with fingers crossed}

{Our FAVORITE ride of the trip!  Toy Story @ Hollywood Studios}

The only character that I cared anything about waiting to see and having a picture made with was Mickey.  Do not miss the chance to meet him at Town Square Theater in Magic Kingdom…it's on your right when you enter the park!  The waiting time was 10 minutes and indoors!

Did you notice Hampton's foot? He was trying to pose like Mickey!  When Mickey noticed, he lined all the boys us on his own for the picture above! This was our "Disney moment."  We could have left right then and I would have been filled up to the top.
{roller coaster riding}

A note about the electrical parade…we tried to catch it Saturday night when we first got there and met the Ingrams.   It was CRAZY.  Boys could not see, we lost Lee in the crowd, and Jonathan may or may not have almost gotten us into a brawl over the fact that we were standing in someone's way.    Anyhoo, we stayed super late one night and caught the later one.  Not near as many people and we had a front row seat!

{Storytime with Belle}

{This is one of my favorite pictures of the whole trip.}

{Everest.  I was so proud that Jackson conquered his fear and rode this.}

{After Everest}

{parade watching}

Lee's family met us in Disney mid-week and we finished the trip with cousins!  We had a great family picture taken with Mickey, but not with my camera!

The picture below just makes me smile.
I tried to get the classic Disney picture in front of the "Let the Memories Begin!" sign
and this is what happened.
Sun in their eyes…crying two year old…completely not centered

I love this picture because it reminds me of exactly who we were on this trip.
This picture is far from perfect, but our first trip to Disney was
practically perfect in every way.

Weekend Lessons

   I just love weeks that start with Tuesday or end with Thursday.

Things I learned this weekend…

  • When you want to learn how to do hair, you need to get to know KATE.  If you are living under a rock and never heard of her blog, cancel all of your plans and get busy here.
My attempt at soft waves.

  • If you want to feel good about yourself, share a burger with your friend instead of eating the whole thing by yourself.  Saturday evening we met my parents, my brother and his sweet girlfriend out for a fundraiser, but grabbed burgers and drinks beforehand.  Lauren and I split a mushroom burger and while I felt good about our choice, I thought about the other half of that burger all night.

  • I do not know as many Elton John songs as I thought I did.  The fundraiser we attended was for a local children's shelter and featured an Elton John tribute.  The lead singer was impressive and changed costumes several times to be more "elton-like."    Lee and I decided that if we are ever invited to an adult Halloween party we would dress like Elton and a tiny dancer.  I will let Lee have dibs on which he wants to be.

  • I love going to the movies.  Over Christmas break, my neighbor Tuna {that's not her real name y'all.  I call her Tuna because when I went to put her name and number in my "smart phone," it  corrected her name from Tina to Tuna.  I got a great laugh and didn't have the heart to tell the phone it was wrong}….good grief back to the sentence…Tuna and I decided to go see one movie, sans kids, just us, each month. 12 movies in 12 months.    Our January movie was August: Osage County.  This movie makes you thankful for the dysfunction that is NOT your own family.  We both left just looking at each other and saying, "huuuuh."   Have you seen it? What did you think?
